Our Game
The Peel AFL Masters, playing as the Mandurah Makos, are the Peel regions Masters Australian Rules football team.
We have 3 teams in 3 age groups, Supers (33-40), Masters (40-45)
and Seniors (45 and over). We play in the 14 team metro competition that plays 12 fixtures per year.
Each fixture is held at one location and is hosted by a club, it is run in a carnival type way with the games lasting 1 hour (13 minute quarters).
The games are played with slightly modified rules, No shirt fronts, no slinging tackles, no knee's in the marking or ruck contests, free kick if the ball goes out
of bounds and most importantly the games are 'Just for Kicks' with everyone having to go to work on Monday. The Peel Masters motto is 'Be Active', whether as a player,
social member, part of the Mrs Makos or the newly formed retired players group the Gummy Sharks.
We train twice a week, Wednesday and Friday, at Rushton North allowing the large number of shift workers to attend at least 1 session.
Training is structured for all levels of fitness from the 33 year olds right through to our oldest member at 63.
Playing in this competition also allows you to represent Western Australia at the National AFL Masters Championships.
The Makos have supplied between 12-19 players per year for the last 3 years for the 6 teams that attend. With our own club membership around 70 this is a remarkable effort.
